Do not believe any web site that tells you you will earn hundreds or thousands of dollars a month filling out paid online surveys. While it is possible to earn a lot of money, this will most likely occur if you end up winning a year monthly or yearly sweepstakes held by the Market Research Company. The probability of this occurring is relatively low, though you shouldn't stop participating in these types of surveys (the only way you can win is to participate and it doesn't hurt to dream).
It is more likely that you will earn under $250 a month. Some people may only earn a few dollars. Most online surveys will pay between $1 to $10 per survey you qualify for and complete, so the more Market Research Companies you sign up for the greater potential you have to earn.

As a result they often have more panelists than they need. This is why you will typically fill out a "Profile" when you join a Market Research Company. Your profile helps the Market Research Company fit you to potential survey opportunities made available through their clients. For instance, a diaper manufacturer would be more interested in hearing from parents of small children than they would be interested in hearing from teenage boy. Likewise, the may want to hear about the teenage boys interests in movies or video games.
In addition, you will find that you do not qualify for all online surveys that are sent to you. Again, the Market Research company will only send online surveys to panelists that meet the general criteria for the study. Once you start a survey you are typically asked some general qualifying questions to determine if you meet the desired group of respondents. If you do you will be permitted to complete the survey and receive an award. If you do not qualify you will not be able to continue with the survey and you will need to wait for a new opportunity to come along. The most important factor is remember to be honest to ensure you are not removed from a Market Research Companies online survey panel.
Who Can Participate in Online Surveys?
Anyone can participate in online surveys. Some Market Research Companies do have certain requirements, such as you must live in a certain country or you must work in a certain profession, but with hundreds of online survey panels available on the internet, you should have no problems finding a survey panel that you qualify to participate in.
How Will I Get Paid?
This depends on the Market Research Company. Some companies will send you a check each time you complete a survey, other Market Research Companies will mail you a check when you reach a minimum payment level.
